The 2017 women’s soccer season kicks off on August 14, and the Trinity Baptist College Eagles look to advance even further than they did in their multi-record-setting 2016 campaign. In addition to talented players from around the Southeast and beyond, Coach Prince Borde has added local talent from Trinity’s own town. One more Jacksonville native has joined the roster this week.

Dasia Nicole Shepherd — Jacksonville, FL

Daisa attended Samuel W. Wolfson High School in ninth and tenth grades before transferring to Terry Parker High School for her junior and senior years. She played varsity all four years for both schools. Daisa also played flag football, and she won the Gateway Conference title in that sport as both a junior and a senior. In addition, she won the Gateway Conference for weightlifting as a senior and earned “In the Game” magazine’s Offensive Player of the Year award for flag football.

Daisa started soccer in seventh grade at Arlington Middle School; she was the team’s leading scorer. She switched to a defender at Wolfson but returned to mid-field at Terry Parker, where she found herself among the team leaders in goals. She was an avid mentor at a local elementary school, working to help kids improve their learning and grades.

Dasia played soccer at Jacksonville Youth Soccer Club at age 17 — at the U-19 level. She also participated in volleyball, basketball, track and field, and ice skating in addition to those sports mentioned earlier.

Besides soccer, Dasia chose Trinity Baptist College for the opportunity to make new friends in an intimate environment and learn about sports management. Above all else, though, she chose Trinity for the opportunity to strengthen her faith and walk with Jesus. When asked about her post-college plans, Dasia stated, “My ideal job will be to work for a women’s professional soccer team in sports management and further my career in soccer.

Daisa’s life verse is Philippians 4:13, which says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Welcome, Dasia Shepherd, to the TBC Eagles!
