Destiny Green led the Eagles with 12 points and had a game-high total of 16 rebounds as Trinity Baptist College played host to the Lady Bruins of Piedmont International University Saturday afternoon. Trinity made a valiant comeback effort, but a late run helped Piedmont fend off the effort and finish with a 57-41 win.

Green scored six points in each half and had seven rebounds each on offense and defense. She also blocked two shots and stole two possessions from the Bruins. Trinity out-rebounded the Bruins 41-40.

Meagan Gooden scored 11 points, including a three-pointer that she got off a moment before the third-quarter buzzer sounded. She was 5 for 11 overall from the field with four rebounds and two steals. Diamond Alford scored nine points overall with seven of them coming during a 14-5 fourth-quarter run that cut a deficit of 20 down to 11. Avianna Phillips sank two three-pointers for a total of six points, and Faithe DeVauhgn added four points and eight rebounds.

Ashley Lane led Piedmont with 17 points, and Amaya Scott followed with 16. Zyniah Kesler also topped 10 points, and three teammates contributed 12 more to help in the Bruins’ win.

Trinity will next play at Florida College on Tuesday, January 30. The Eagles will then host Bob Jones University on Friday, February 2, before hitting the road for two more. The final three regular-season games are all at home between February 13 and 17.
