Sophomore Destiny Green joined the active roster Saturday morning as the Trinity Baptist College Eagles competed against the Welch College Flames in the GNTC Classic Walthour Tournament in Rome, Georgia. Green put 23 points on the board in her Eagles debut and finished as the game’s leading scorer, but Welch ended up the winner 72-53.

Destiny Green scored 23 points in her TBC debut.

Green shot 59% from the field on 10-for-17 overall shooting, including 2 three-point shots in six attempts. She also converted a free throw and pulled in seven total rebounds.

Meagan Gooden scored eight points for the Eagles while Diamond Alford and Avianna Phillips each had six. Natalia Lopez and Shaina Hill had five points apiece in the Eagles’ effort. Green, Gooden, Phillips, and Alford combined for seven three-pointers, and the Eagles shot 38% overall for the game.

Four Welch players topped double digits in scoring with Caitlyn Braxton leading the way at 21 points. Chelsea Holesapple was next with 19, and Kendall Ryan and Karlee Alberty followed with 15 and 10, respectively, to helpĀ  lead the Flames. Holesapple and Ryan combined for seven three-point shots as part of Welch’s 41% overall shooting.

The Lady Eagles have completed play until after the Christmas break. When they resume, the Eagles will play their first five games of 2018 on the road between January 6 and 23, beginning with Judson College in Marion, Alabama. The next home game is scheduled for January 26, when the Eagles host South Region opponent Trinity College of Florida at 2:00 p.m. EST.
