The Trinity Baptist College Eagles volleyball team played a South Region match at home Tuesday evening versus the Tigers of Trinity College of Florida. The Eagles battled back from deficits twice, but the Tigers eventually won the match three sets to none.
The final scores were 25-16, 25-20, and 25-20. Trinity came back from down eight late in each of the second and third sets, but the Tigers were able hold off the comeback effort each time.
Jessica Silva led the Eagles with four services aces, which tied her for the game high. Jennifer Kelnhofer and Madison Hersey each followed with three. Crystal Lavelle (5), Silva (3), and Kelnhofer (3) led the Eagles with kills, and Lavelle topped all other players on the court with 22 digs. Silva led the Eagles in points with 11 while Kelnhofer followed with eight and Levelle had six.
For the Tigers, Kierra Jones led with four aces while she and Brittney O’Hara tied for the game-high seven kills. Autumn Reed was the Tigers’ digs leader with 10. Jones scored the game-high 12 points, and four other Tigers had at least seven.
The Eagles will travel to Wesleyan College on Thursday, October 12. Two single home matches will follow as the Eagles host Edward Waters College (Jacksonville) on October 16 and Florida Gateway College (Lake City) on October 19. Then, the Eagles will host back-to-back tri-matches with Bob Jones University, Johnson University of Florida, and Trinity College of Florida on October 20 and 21.
