Jennifer Kelnhofer and Jessica Silva led the Eagles’ attack against Florida Gateway College Thursday night. The Eagles battled a terrific team from Lake City and held them very close most of the way, but Gateway came away with the 3-0 victory by scores of 25-22, 25-9, and 25-23.

In what she described as her personal best game played, Kelnhofer led the Eagles with 39 assists and was second on the team in kills with 25.

Kelnhofer also aced two serves and dug five balls off the floor.

Silva, meanwhile, led all players on the court with 29 kills and served up four aces while helping on defense with three digs.

Silva scored 33 points on the night, and Kelnhofer was second with 27.

Newcomer Emily Martinez came off the soccer field and put on the libero’s jersey. She responded with 14 digs, 13 assists, and and ace. Ashley Simmons (3) and Kiley Sanders (2) also served up aces for the Eagles. Hailey Dittenber contributed four assists in the Eagles’ effort.

Sanders, Dasia Shepherd, and Alexa Goodwin joined Martinez in winning on the soccer field Thursday afternoon and playing volleyball at night. In fact, Shepherd scored the soccer team’s game-winning goal and then picked up three kills and four assists on the volleyball court.

The Eagles will play Johnson University of Florida at 6:00 p.m. EDT Friday night and again on Saturday. The Saturday match-up is Game 3 of the Eagles’ tri-match with Johnson and Bob Jones University. Trinity will play Bob Jones at 12:00 noon and Johnson at 4:00. The regular season ends on Saturday, October 28, at Pensacola Christian College.

The South Region tournament runs from November 3-5 at Toccoa Falls College.
