Kayla Bass, Courtney Byrd, and Heaven Crouse all homered, and the Lady Eagles recorded team history when Trinity Baptist College Softball swept two from Piedmont International University on Saturday, March 3. Trinity totaled 21 runs, 29 hits, and 4 home runs in the biggest offensive output of the season as they won both games by scores of 8-1 and 13-1.

Bass hit a two-run shot (2nd) in the fourth inning of Game 1, and Byrd did the same (1) in the seventh. Byrd repeated the trick with a solo shot (2) in the third inning of Game 2. Crouse (1) went deep with two runners on base in Game 2’s fifth. In all, the trio of Eagles combined for 12 hits, 4 HR, and 6 RBI in the double header.

Lauren Lewis also had a banner day at the plate. Lewis was 3 for 4 in each game with a total of 4 RBI. She had a run-scoring single in Game 1 and a RBI double plus a two-run double in Game 2. She also scored four runs, three of them in the nightcap.

Courtney Blanset hit safely twice in each game, scored three times total, and drove in two. Dasia Shepherd, Cierra Warren, Jade Jerez (2), and Lena Springer (3) all hit safely for the Eagles. Jerez had 2 RBI, and Shepherd and Warren each drove in a run as well. Springer had 5 total RBI, four of them in Game 1.

In the opener, Trinity scored three runs in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth, and one in the seventh. In Game 2, the Eagles put up a four-spot in innings 2 and 3 while scoring in the second (2), fourth (1), and fifth (2) frames of a five-inning game.

On the mound, Jerez and Springer each pitched complete games. Jerez allowed an unearned run on two hits while walking four and striking out six in seven innings of Game 1, and Springer’s Game 2 line reads 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 2 K, 1 HR.

The Eagles will host a double-header with NAIA Ave Maria University on Tuesday, March 6. The games begin at 11:00 a.m. EST. On Saturday, March 10, Trinity will live stream TBC Softball for the first time when the Eagles play two with Jacksonville’s Edward Waters College beginning at 1:00 p.m.
