The Trinity Baptist College Eagles men’s soccer team took a two-day trip to Northwest Georgia to face two different adversaries: Toccoa Falls College Friday night and Dalton State College Saturday afternoon. The Eagles will return home having split the two matches.

Friday was a good night for the Eagles as they defeated NCCAA Division 2 South Region opponent Toccoa Falls 5-2. Youlormans Hillaire, Shelove Delance, Garret Feustel, Juan Grimaldo, and Clayton McDaniel each scored one in the Eagles’ win. Hillaire scored in Minute 32, and Delance connected just moments before halftime. The Eagles led 2-0 at the half.

Toccoa’s Josiah Brown scored only seconds into the second half, and he tied the score at 2-2 twelve minutes later. Trinity, though, pulled away between Minutes 60 and 87 thanks to Feustel, Grimaldo, and McDaniel. Trinity’s defense held Toccoa to five total shots and two on goal, both of which Kyle Aultman saved. Trinity got off 16 shots with all five on goal reaching the net.

Trinity improved to 2-1 in South Region play, having completed the season series with included Toccoa Falls after a 3-1 win on September 15.

Saturday’s game did not turn out as nicely, however, as the Eagles met a very tough NAIA Southern States Athletic Conference competitor in Dalton State. The Roadrunners entered play at 6-1 — and with fresh legs as they had not played since September 17. Dalton State won 7-0.

Seven different Roadrunners scored goals, and Dalton’s stingy defense held Trinity to five shots total and three shots on goal.

Up next for the Eagles is a home game with Warner University of the NAIA Sun Conference on Monday, October 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. EDT. Two road games will follow: at Florida College (Temple Terrace, Florida) on October 10 and South Region opponent Bob Jones University (Greenville, South Carolina) on October 14. Three of the four final regular-season games that follow are at home with two of those games versus South Region competition.
