Thirteen different Eagles scored points as Trinity Baptist College put up a season-high 96 in their first game of the 2018 Bible College NIT, played in Trinity Gymnasium. Trinity defeated Word of Life Bible Institute 96-52.

Kaleb Botts put up a game-high 17 points on the strength of five three-point shots and two free throws. He hit a pair of threes in the first half and three more in the second. Botts was 5 for 8 from behind the arc in compiling his leading total.

Anthony Severain drained a career-high 13 points, all of them in the second half. He was 3 for 4 from three-point land and added a free throw.

Trinity also got a dozen points each from Marquel Perry and Marquis Duncanson, both of whom spread their points evenly throughout each half. Duncanson was 4 for 4 from the line, and the Eagles converted 14 of 22 free throws overall while shooting at a 47% clip in the second half. Trinity led 37-20 at halftime and then scored 59 out of the intermission in scoring a new season high.

Ethan Panye followed with 9 points for the Eagles, seven in the second half. Caleb Howard had a season-high 8. His two threes gave Trinity 10 total on the night. Chandler Rivers scored 6, Jykayle Walker and Andrew Bowman each put up 5, Marcus Dixon contributed 4, Zack Norris and Jacari Randolph had 2 apiece, and Terry Byrd added a free throw for the Eagles.

Word of Life got 14 points from Noah Hull and 11 from Jon Bailey to lead the Huskies in scoring. Silas Paraschauer scored 8, Antoine Jalbert and Jason Anderson each had 6, Marquiece Dabny added 4, and Drew Ferrier dropped in two.

The Eagles will play Round 2 Friday night versus Johnson University of Florida at 6:00 p.m. EST. This is the third meeting between the teams this season, and the home team has won each game. Should the Eagles win, they will play in the title game Saturday at 3:00 p.m. A loss will put Trinity in the consolation game Saturday at 1:00.
