Basketball season is only a few weeks away, and the Trinity Baptist College Eagles will have a number of fresh new faces. The newest face is a former NCAA athlete whom Coach John D. Jones has added to his roster.
Chandler Rivers — Indian Trail, North Carolina
Chandler is a transfer student athlete from NCAA Division 1 Gardner Webb University (Boiling Springs, North Carolina), where he also played college football. He is a graduate of Metrolina Christian Academy in Indian Trail, North Carolina, where he played varsity basketball for two years and was an honor-roll student.
Chandler is the son of Mr. James and Mrs. Vickie Rivers. His high school coach is Mr. Michael Wilson. Chandler was the 2013-2014 team most valuable player and the 2014-2015 most improved player.
Chandler chose Trinity Baptist College for its Spiritual atmosphere and potential Christian influence it can have on him. “I felt like it was a school that can bring me closer to God,” he explained. “I didn’t want to lose my relationship with Him, so I felt like this was the best school for me to play basketball and grow in my faith.”
After college, Chandler hopes to play overseas and start multiple businesses. His favorite verse is Philippians 4:13, which reads, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Please welcome Chandler Rivers to Trinity Baptist College and to the Eagles roster.
