During the summer break, many college players take advantage of the time away from their institutions to get in some extra playing time and hone their skills with the many summer college leagues scattered throughout the country. Some of the best summer college baseball is played here in the Southeast, and many Trinity Baptist College Eagles baseball players are involved in summer baseball in the region as they prepare for the 2017-18 campaign.

This week, a number of TBC Eagles will participate in the American Legion State Championship Tournament in Miami. The American Legion Post 9 squad, located in Jacksonville, has two Eagles as coaches: returning NCCAA All-American OF/LHP Jon Shiver and returning NCCAA Academic All-American RHP Matt Carter.

The team also features, as key players, returning infielder Christian Draper and returning outfielder Keith Rathbun. Several of the Post 9 team’s important players are also TBC Eagles recruits, including recent signees Daniel Burnsed (catcher) and Greyson Wright (LHP).

The Post 9 team recently had the privilege of competing for an American Legion Regional Championship at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville — home of the Miami Marlins Double A Minor League franchise. Post 9 won that game 6-2 and is now looking for an American Legion State Championship– with a slew of TBC Eagles leading the way.
