After Friday’s comeback win, the Eagles played two with Florida Memorial University Saturday afternoon. A.J. Alexio hit safely in each game of the double-header, but FMU won both games by scores of 7-0 and 3-2.
Alexio was 2 for 7 on the afternoon while Jon Shiver, Bryan Lopez, Christian Draper, Dan Richard, and Kelvin George all hit safely for the Eagles. Alexio also scored one and drove in one in Game 2. In the top of the first, Alexio came in on David Hall‘s RBI groundout to put the Eagles ahead. He then broke a 1-1 tie in the second with a line drive single into right that plated Nick Mackedon.
Austin Hiller and Richard had very strong relief appearances for the Eagles. Hiller pitched 2 2/3 innings of one-run ball with two strikeouts in Game 1, and Richard struck out two men of his own in two scoreless innings in Game 2.
Trinity will play their next 10 games all at home. On Tuesday, the Eagles will begin that long home stand with two against NAIA Thomas University, followed by a three-game series with Southern Wesleyan University on February 9 and 10. Truett McConnell and Montreat College will finish off the home stand between February 24 and March 13.
